Welcome Association Italy celebrates Assadakah’s important milestone

The Welcome Association Italy (WAI), represented by Deputy National Secretary Carlo Palumbo, participated with great enthusiasm in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of Assadakah, held on December 16, 2024 at the prestigious setting of Palazzo Grazioli in Rome.

The event was attended by numerous ambassadors and prominent figures from the diplomatic and cultural world, including:

• Arab League Ambassador to Italy, Inès Mekkawy, awarded an honorary shield;
• Ambassador of Yemen and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Italy, H.E. Esmaan Abdul Hamid Al-Tuqi;
• Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Nizar bin Jalandi bin Majid Al Said;
• The Ambassadors of Algeria, Iraq, Sudan, Lebanon (to the Holy See) and Morocco (to the Holy See);
• Representatives of the embassies of Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia;
• Delegates from the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Opening the evening was Assadakah's founder, journalist Talal Khrais, who thanked the guests and stressed the association's crucial role in strengthening cultural ties between Italy and the Arab world. The evening was an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of intercultural cooperation and the joint efforts of associations such as Assadakah and Welcome Association Italy.

The long-standing collaboration between WAI and Assadakah represents a virtuous example of dialogue and friendship aimed at promoting valuable cultural and social relations. It is a long-established friendship that has seen the two entities work together on major initiatives for intercultural dialogue and support for the Arab and Italian communities.

During the event, a prestigious award was presented to Ambassador Inès Mekkawy, who was praised for her commitment to Arab causes in Italy and for her close collaboration with associations such as Assadakah. Significant moments of the evening included a speech by Dr. Elisabetta Pamela Petrolati and the presentation of a work of art by artist Isabella Salari, a further symbol of unity and cultural exchange.

Welcome Association Italy, through the presence of Carlo Palumbo, renews its support for Assadakah and its values, recognizing the great work done by Dr. Talal Khrais and his staff in promoting brotherhood and cooperation among peoples.
